Sinulog 2025: A New Era with Lambo Mabolo!

Exciting changes are on the horizon for the Sinulog Festival! For the first time since its inception, Barangay Mabolo will bid farewell to its beloved Tribu Mabolokon and embrace a brand-new team known as “Lambo Mabolo.”

A Fresh Start for Creativity!

Barangay Captain Daniel Francis Arguedo is thrilled about this rebranding, viewing it as a leap toward “autonomy and inclusivity” in their creative process. He emphasizes that the previous reliance on dance masters didn’t give the team a voice in their performance. “We were always dependent on them, and we had no say in our presentation. Now, it’s all about collaboration and teamwork!” he shared with enthusiasm.

A Positive Shift!

The talented dance masters who once led Tribu Mabolokon have teamed up with Barangay Kasambagan to form “Bag-ong Tribu: Kasambagan.” However, Captain Arguedo assures us that this shift has been amicable, highlighting the camaraderie between the two barangays. They’re even collaborating to ensure everyone is on the same page!

“Why not tap into our own talents?” Arguedo exclaimed. “It’s time to showcase the incredible skills we have right here in Barangay Mabolo!”

Honoring Legacy with New Themes!

Tribu Mabolokon has a rich history, earning several championships and becoming a crowd favorite with its electrifying performances. The new Lambo Mabolo team is excited to take the stage, promising a fresh perspective while honoring their legacy. They plan to move away from traditional nature-based themes and instead portray the concept of good governance, an idea that resonates with the values of the barangay.

“We’re focusing on quality, better uniforms, props, and costumes! Execution is key, and I have confidence that we’ll land in the top ranks!” Arguedo added, brimming with optimism.

Building from the Ground Up!

Starting from scratch hasn’t been easy, especially with many original talents now part of the team in Barangay Kasambagan. However, choreographer Marjun Salve, who now leads Lambo Mabolo, is proud of the new team’s progress. “Despite being new and having limited time, we’ve come together beautifully. Our dancers are all fresh faces, bringing new energy and creativity!” Salve remarked.

Though they face challenges, the determination and resilience of the new dancers shine through. “We’ve faced a steep learning curve, but the team has shown incredible dedication and teamwork,” he said.

As Lambo Mabolo prepares to debut at Sinulog 2025, the excitement in Barangay Mabolo is palpable! This new contingent aims to not only uphold the legacy of Tribu Mabolokon but also inject fresh ideas and creativity into the vibrant Sinulog stage.
